Towards All-Quantum Optical Signal Processing in Futuristic Quantum Internet Communication Systems and Data Networks
Abstract: The advancement of quantum communication systems, networks, computers, and machine learning in the futuristic quantum internet will hinge on the development of all-quantum signal processing techniques, where quantum principles govern every step from transmission to reception. Implementing these techniques in large-scale, complex networks presents significant challenges due to the diverse range of optical and photonic devices and subsystems involved. The central difficulty lies in preserving the quantum nature of light's state to retain its quantum advantages while transitioning between devices with varied functionalities. This talk will explore the potentials of all-quantum processing to harness quantum properties such as superposition, entanglement, and teleportation. I will also showcase examples of successful applications of all-quantum signal processing in long-distance communication and multi-access networks, demonstrating its promise for the future quantum internet. Finally, the discussion will cover the critical role of quantum memory and emerging technologies like quantum machine learning in overcoming the challenges of integrating quantum technology into the existing network infrastructures.
